Staycation in the age of Covid-19

We decided to take the kids to a hotel in Hong Kong for a staycation. Partly to support our local hotels to keep them in business and spend some quality time with the kids in a different setting. We searched online for a few hotel packages and had our mindset on a few hotels, but decided to pick Cordis Hong Kong — for their poolside fun package.

When we picked our hotel, we look at room size, what the facilities for the kids are like and what sort of entertainment they would offer to our kids, and of course, the food choices (for kids and in-room dining since it's quite challenging to do a buffet with a 6 months old and 3 years old) and the price.

The hotel blocked out the pool for two hours to all regular guests and only offered those who joined the package. The day we were there had 5 families there that afternoon. Some were older kids while some were younger, but I think Asher was the youngest of all the kids there.

We decided to stay for three days and two nights at the hotel, so we were not rushing. We spent time at the pool each day, but Theo definitely had the most fun on Saturday when the poolside party fun happened. They even had a balloon artist making balloons for the kids, and provided ice lollipops and face painting to the kids. Theo ran around the pool, played with large bubbles. He enjoyed it so much that he didn’t want to leave the paddling pool even when his lips turned purple from the cold water. He even asked whether we could back the next day.

We also brought Theo and Asher to the Science museum one afternoon too.

We all didn’t want this weekend to end so quickly.
