Theo in Canada
Third Beach in Vancouver
This June, Theo flew half way across the ocean and stepped foot on Canada and the United States the very first time. Theo did very well, considering how long the flights were. We deliberately picked a flight that left Hong Kong in the evening hours and we realised there was not a lot of options. We picked a flight to Toronto with a short layover in Seoul. During his flight to Seoul, Theo slept the whole journey.
We kept him awake while we were in Seoul, with massive help with their kid's entertainment zones (also his first introduction to television and the South Korean cartoon character Pororo). He felt right back to bed for the long leg of the trip — he slept for 10 out of the 13 hours flight from Seoul to Toronto. I don't think anyone could ask for more!

Our time in Toronto/Ontario mostly was to visit our friends. It was our first trip back since our honeymoon. We were hoping to introduce our friends to Theo, and vice versa. This part of the trip was exceptionally hard for Theo as a lot of times were spent in a car driving to various across the province, as well as moving from one point to another. I was in charge of the driving, while Karena took on the big responsibility of entertaining the child who doesn't like restrains and definitely not used to being in a car seat. We pulled out every trick in the bag — singing, eating, drinking, playing games, and ultimately, breaking our own rule of no screen time by playing Pororo (which Theo was introduced to during our transit in Seoul).

After our long drive to Ottawa, we finally arrived at our friend’s place. They have two dogs at their place. It’s not Theo’s first time seeing or interacting with dogs but it’s definitely his first time spending a few days getting to know them.
We also went to the children’s museum where he had a blast just exploring on his own. He is not the strongest walker but he managed by holding on to one of our hands or railing on the side.

Theo mostly enjoyed the swings at our friend’s backyard, the cool breeze from the ocean waves. He was a bit frighted with the feeling of walking on grass at first but he adapted and enjoyed it at the end.
